I have a Sugino 1 piece crank and a BB suitable for a 1 piece crank. Trouble is the rings and the locknuts appear to be a different thread.......is this possible ? :-\

you may have mongoose 28tpi bb. which fit old redline 401's, etc

This may sound stupid but are you tightening them in the correct direction'the lock nut for the the chain wheel side tightens clockwise but two on the other side tighten anti-clockwise.
