Need some theoretical help guys...

Been looking at new bars for my new school ride, and I know it's just down to personal preference - i.e. what feels right...but what's the theory behind the rise, sweep and height of bars? What's better 11 degrees of back sweep or 4 degrees? What difference does it make?

Hope someone can shed some light...

Thanks in advance

Dave

they feel nice bloody wide tho even cut down lol

Thanks Rhys - I know what you mean, some bars just feel weird.

I ride Hoffman Low Drag's which are 7.5"x 25" but they only have 6 degree sweep and about 4 upsweep...so trying to find something new school (and light) to match is a real challenge.

So, I just wondered why companies weren't making bars with such shallow sweep anymore - is there a reason to run more?

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

flatland bars often have very little sweep , so the feel the same when reversed

the bars i ride with are about 6 or 6.5" rise

but then i like my bikes short and low down

before i could find small enough bars, i would flip the stem, or cut down the steerer tube (on 1" threaded) to get them lower
