removing the large nut on a tuf neck

is it possible ,to remove the large nut and shaft on a tuf neck stem ,,,had the spanner on it ,but didn't want to force it to much

need to remove it or them so i can get it annodised ,,,cheers chaps  :daumenhoch:

yes you can mate, not hard to do.

I undid the bolt on mine. unscrewed the bolt about three or four threads and hit with rubber mallet. repeated until the shaft came out the head of the stem.

got it reanno'd and then used the bolt to pull the shaft back in just by tightening it. held the shaft in a vice so I could ensure the head was straight and use both hands on the ring spanner.

I thought the tiger looking to the right are ok to unscrew but the tiger looking to the left with a neck and a chain are a different story. Can anyone elaborate on this?

NFI but if it's held in with a bolt I would guess it will undo; you may need to give it some gbh or use a press (which I did) to get the shaft out but it should come out.  When you put it back together put aome tape on the topcap around the bolt (not under, but around) to avoid marking up your shiney new anno  :daumenhoch:.

if your sendintg it to paul at customwhateverhiscompanynameisasicantremeber you dont need to remove the shaft, he will just tape it up

i just polished a tuff neck stem for matt "swivel" and he wanted the nut painted satin black so i undone the nut , the stem is taped out for the nut/bolt . come to think of it i should have took piccy,s of the nut out  :idiot2:

cheers guys ,,thought about leaving the stem in know ,after finding out paul can do it with it still in

having right trouble getting the nut out ,,,,,, need to get a vice me thinks  :buck2:
