GRIP ID...? please help...
« on: November 02, 2009, 05:57 PM »
This is gonna be a tough one unless anyone can find any better pictures or was there to confirm...

These are the only pics I have of Craig Schofield in Whistler Canada when he won the World Title in 1985...

Craig is very sketchy on alot of the parts he rode with, as he changed things so often and would basically ride with 'anything', he was no BMX fashion victim and was happy with whatever parts were given him never mind the colour etc etc...

I have the original GT Pro Bars here with that he used and they still have a set of A'me Tri's in Blue attached... with the ends pretty scuffed up...? its the top picture that is confusing me... it looks like some kind of end cap or two tone grip???? anyone help?

I know the pics are cr@p... but its all I have to work with....

Its a thought mate...

Maybe Mr.Darren Wood can step forward with an ID as he seems to have memorized most of the components of EVERY riders bike on the Raleigh BMX Team.  :daumenhoch:

I hate to mess around but i change my mind ??? You said you got his GT Pro bars with the Tri's on it right Dave? well the only thing on the end of Tri's is an A'me triangle. now from a distance you can't see the triangle much as i've had a set on my bike. I reckon you may have the original grips he used :daumenhoch: whatta score ;)

I also have this picture from the same period... Late 1985... this wasn't at the Worlds in Canada but was very close... He was running Tech 4's at Whistler.

But again there is an end cap effect on the visible grip... think Unitron's could be right...

1985 Worlds i would say that Craig would be using AME  ............. UNITRONS ! ................ Colour BLUE grip with RED inner :daumenhoch:

The LATER pic would be the AME TRI"S

Most of the Time we all used UNITRONS as we were sponsored by UNI and the UNITRONS were there latest grips and also the longer lasting ;)

And i know for a fact that we had boxes an boxes of UNITRONS in my LOFT !  :D

Nice one WOODY :4_17_5:
