Track in Reading

Dear All,

I was stumbling through Reading yesterday afternoon, and I walked through a park which had an old BMX track in it. It still has the gate, and could be ridden. It looked really long, so I may have to stop for a rest! It was next to the skate ramps if that helps anyone, which is quite near the city centre.

I've never been there myself... but this is what my mate Hoppy had to say about it in an old thread over on bmxtalk. (hoppy lives is Reading).

serously don't even waste your time considering reading bmx track, cos its not a track. its beyond shite. some complete idiot wasted abuot £24k of council money after asking for Hayes and Andover club for help, he went off and did it on his own. totally impossible to ride, possiblty perfect for mini mx bikes though, but you'll probably get nicked by the old bill if you do.

Dont sound much fun to me.

I did race at the old Reading track in about 1985, but thats not much help is it.

This was the track for 210 Eagles.It's location is called Kings Meadow,sitting right beside the river and Reading bridge.I know what it used to look like,i helped build it.Now it is in a very poor state,with only a 1ft wide track worn through the grass which covers more or less all of it.Dirt jumpers have added extra earth on top of some of the jumps in the usual style.

as hutchman dave says its 210 eagles track, was one of the longest tracks in the south. got some pics from there will post them up soon ish.
