An old man and an old friend...Couple of Photo's added !!
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:59 PM »
I happened to have a conversation with a Brummy who is now masquerading as a Yorkshire Man (One half of the “It’ll do Brothers” !!!) about the first bike I raced which was an Ammaco Team Sprint and he said a bloke who worked for his brother had an F&F and he’d find out if he wanted to sell it.

So a month or so pass and I get a PM saying he’s picked up the F&F and come over and have a look at them…..two…three………errrr six….ish months later (Due to my complete lack of time management and lots and lots of personal crap……Women hey!!!)I get over to his house which is about 6 miles from where I live !!! this gives you some idea of how unorganised/hectic my life has been

So I get my first look at the Ammaco and it has the same sticker on it (Got them free with BMX Action Bike) that I had put on there about 25 years ago…I’d got some old photo’s out so I could be sure of the bike model…I thought no this couldn’t be my actual F&F….

I did a deal and swapped a pair of ropey old rims a couple of chainwheels………I offered man love but he wasn’t up for it, and took the F&F home.

I remembered that at the time of owning the Ammaco I’d passed my cycling proficiency test on it and we’d also got our bikes “Data Tagged” with the local police station. A phone call later to my mum and she’d got the paperwork out…..Thank god Mums keep everything !!!!…The serial numbers on the frame matched to the numbers in the little book/documentation she’d got…..

So I’m going to put the old girl back together as she was in her last evolution

I know due to the parts list that this will be a mismatch of parts (NOS MKS Graphite Pedals Anyone !!!) and I’ll never recoupe the cost of chroming the F&F…..the chrome is completely shot. But I don’t care it was the last “Kids Bike” I had before I got a proper race bike and it will bring back so many memories of bunny hoping off kerbs and building ramps with bits of wood and bricks, also winning my first ever race trophy which in now on display on in my office.

It will take me a while but…..I’m hoping to have it ready for MK10……yes I am that foooking slow !!! But it’s also because of the parts I require I get the feeling it’s going to take a while…..

Cheers

Peter

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Pics? What, like this one......... >:D

CENSORED

Nope, that's for Peter to tease us with at every stage. Gotta admit the old girl looked a little sorry for herself when she was found at the car-boot by Daz, but what a find eh? Hands up who'd love to have their original bike back eh?

Just glad to be of service mate - now then, if anyone has a 1983 Mongoose Californian f&f with B63 4DU stamped on the BB below the serial number, give me a call and I will drive anywhere in the UK to come and collect it :smitten:

Pics please buddy :daumenhoch:

I've only just got round to changing my bank account details so the ex cannot keep dipping into the BMX fund  :2gunsfiring_v1: so pic's might take a while  :-[

Plus it only took me about 8 months to drive 6 miles down the road to Spen's house and pic it up  :D

Lazy na not me........completely unorganised and cannot focus on one thing for more than two seconds....yep that'll be me  :uglystupid2:
