Redline Frameset Help
«
on:

Thinking about getting a Redline or a GT performer as my next build but when looking at some of the redline bikes in the museum for insparation not really sure on the models?
There's PL, RL, ST, 500, 600.
Is there anybody who could enlighten me on the differences to the frames etc or put a link up to a site that can explain it

PL means Pro Line = Top Level Race Line Bikes
RL means F(R)eestyle F&F and Complete Bikes
600 and
500 are lower level complete Race Bikes/F&F
I hope my explains in "quick & dirty" helps.

OOps,
i forgot to explain the ST = Stu Thompsen F&F set.
Then in the late 80īs they made complete bike sets like the
800 PXL
600 CXL
400 C
and they ad the RL 20 b Freestyler.

Mattdub, and Brandy Truffle know a lot about Redlines I belive.
For the freestyle range:
The RL20's (single top tube) and RL20 II (double top tube) had 5 " steerer tubes and were full cro-mo. RL20's had no peg holes in the forks intially, then peg holes were put in high up the fork, then later changed to lower down (matt??)
The RL20A (single top tube) was released later with a 4" steerer and was made from "tri-moly" ..basically cro-mo front triangle, HT steel rear triangle. A cheaper model cashing in on the full RL20/20 II's name I think..
Not sure about the RL20B though?

Iwas actually thinking of starting up some sort of spreadsheet for each manufactuer. It would have a time line with pics/dates/description of components and complete bikes. Redline would be a good one, as they are a little confusing.
But i'm too fooking lazy
