I'm not qualified to comment on the ethics involved in restorations, but I would say that there's a distinction to be drawn here.

If you just want single line classified ads where its completely dog eat dog, then the mods could lock every thread to prevent these remarks, and sales could be conducted by pm. Everything gets automatically deleted after a set period, say, 1 month.

But we don't want to go down that road do we?

This is supposed to be a community after all. The marketplace is secondary (or should be) to the community. As with everything else in life, there's going to be some bumps along the way, it's never a smooth road all the time. I think being able to bitch and moan, force your opinion and/or fight back is something to be embraced and long should it live.

Of course we all have choices in life. THere's always Ebay.

£160 quid for a pair of painted tuffs comes across a piss take...i'm not saying you took this stance, but it looks like your trying to profiteer out of what appears to be a disaster.

getting a bit of your money back and thinking it was worth a try, so say 60 quid , and sold as 'a good idea that turned out shit in the flesh, but kind of glad i tried' kind of thing ???

i didnt want to say that on your for sale thread, becuase that is out of order, but as others have gone half way there and you've asked for peoples opinions, then fook it, there it is  :D

who gives anyway..you build some awesome bikes, and this is something you tried and it didnt work out..

no big deal. :daumenhoch:

chalk it up and move on dude

Yup, i agree £160 for painted Tuffs is criminal and for nobody to pipe up in your for sale thread would have been just as criminal.

BINGO - That's it right there - you took a £110 pair of yellow skyways and painted them white, thus reducing their value to £50/£60 max.

I'm sorry that all your hard work painting them has no appeal to some of us, but they're no longer of any use to those of us that put a value on 'original & unmolested'.

I can't understand why you can't understand that.......

I'm going to go and bash my head on a wall now - that's my last words on this

and again sorry to come across as a utter untİ

can i refer you to pickles original statement, when you painted them you knocked a zero off the value, we live and sometimes learn, hey ho time to move on, and next time DONT PAINT EM   :daumenhoch:

Everybody is under the assumption that just because you bought something for this price that you should sell it for a similar price.

In most cases this works okay unless you paid way over the odds in the first place.

But turning yellow into white tuffs by painting them seriously affects their resale value.   So knocking £15 off the price you bought them for is too low IMHO.

You should have just spilt the tyres and freewheel and offloaded the wheels at a far lower price and hopefully the tires and freewheel would recoup their prices you bought them for.   If the tires are rare then maybe up the price if the market allows.

Anyway, you messed them up Neil so you should be prepared to take the financial hit!!

As others say.........you live and learn!!
