A big thanks to Dave for all his help tonight in helping me put together my new race machine.

Firstly - I have hounded him for about 4 weeks to get all the parts I needed.  Fully harassing him on sometimes an hourly basis!

Secondly - I have been picky as hell with this. that and the other.

Thirdly - I have taken a big chunk of his time today to help me build it all up.

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to building bikes from scratch and I assumed it would all just go together like a nice airfix kit.  Oh no - it may be nice stuff but is it bu66ery standard fitment.  God what a faf on trying to fit the new profile bb and old profile cranks to a new frame.

To be honest - without Dave's help I wouldn't have had a clue to sort out some bits!!

So big thanks Dave.  Your help was appreciated.  It was a cracking night building up the new ride tonight.

P.s. the new Rad shop retail unit is tidy as.  Really nice and racked with quality items.

The bike? S&M 38 Special custom build.  Love it.

I'll put some pictures up for the race perverts in the next week or so.

Here are some phone pics.

It's a Hotel bedroom / bathrooom shoot, Dex is clealy naked whilst taking the pics in the bathroom, then it was off to the bedroom for some hot pivotal seatpost-out action.

Lovely Bike  :4_17_5:, though with different tyres tubes and chain, you would save 1lb in weight, if you can be arsed  :daumenhoch:

Right then perverts,

Yes - hotel room.  Not even I have a full length pimp mirror in my bathroom!

Changing tyres tubes and chain?  Front changing for a Holly Roller tomorrow and new chain for spring.

Parts rundown:

S&M 38 Special Frame - 21.25 tt
S&M XLT Race stem - middle length whatever that is
S&M Berringer XLT bars (same dimensions as the T4 Race.  These were used and re-powdered locally - decent job)
S&M ODI Lock-on grips
Fit Shiv Forks
Verde sealed integrated headset
RadBMX fluted fork spacers
Shimano DXR brake lever (RH) and V Brake
Alienation 27.2mm pivotal post
Federal SL pivotal seat
Generic seat clamp
Profile euro BB
Profile 180mm cranks (re-powdered locally - decent job apart from I had to scrape the splines clean!)
Profile 43th Imperial chain ring
Profile GDH Hollow cromo spindle (this is a nice piece)
Profile chain tugs
Sram chain
Welgo MG1 pedals
Wheels:
Profile race hubs in tangerine
Double butted spokes
Alloy nipples
Sun Envy rims
Generic tubes
Maxis Holly roller tyres

I think that's about it.

Weight? 21lb, 5oz.

Pretty damn good as their is no Ti on this baby at all.

Tyres, Maxiss DTH or Schwalbe Moe Joe (folding SL) or a mixture, Tubes KHE Twiggy (flatland tubes) saving 200g just on tubes  , KMC sl hollow link chain,

Bung a Ti bolt in the pivotal seat (for a tenner off ebay) too, worthwile weight saving  :daumenhoch:

At least 1lb with the above  :daumenhoch:

Maybe - if I can be arsed.  It's a good 3lb or more lighter than the old one so I'm not going mad.
