Rear cable - which side?

Im interested in what side of the frame people think the rear brake cable should go for a righty lever?

After looking at some new skool race bikes people race these days the tendancy is to put the cable down the left side, but looking at some old skool racing pics the tendancy was the right side.

The question is which is the correct side for the cable to run, I can see the advantages of the old skool way but not the new??

I see, I should have spotted that. Will stick mine down the right O/S style

I always run my back brake lever on the left, therefore the cable runs around the headtube and down the right side of the frame, tho I'm
not  a racer, and I'm not saying that that's "right" it's just how I have it.

for brakes to work the best, it needs to be the route of 'least resistance' for the cable. That, in my  experience for OS, this tends to be the right side for the rear. It helps when centering the brake, having it loop over the frame always pulls the caliper to one side.

Marty it's not a lever side question it's a cable routing question.

Cheers for the replies lads, I guess the $50,000,000 question then is: which side should the cable go for the smoothest pull on a R/H lever, with bars facing front 90deg left + 90deg right.

Answers on a postcard, might do some experimenting tonight.

you need one of them cableless wifi brakes.

if its an american bike then it has to be down the right side

and for the smoothest pull, right side too as if its a caliper brake the hanger arm/outer cable stop will be on the right

keeps a smoother cable route.

Wifi brake now theres an idea, micro switch on the bar and a servo under the seat to pull the cable. 

Its a pitbull caliper so in the middle
