Hybrid haro
« on: September 26, 2009, 09:34 PM »
I built my 88 master a month or so back. Its undergone some changes now though. Its now hybridised/bastardised LOL.

It suits my needs now though.

A proper mix of old school, new school... Flatland and freestyle.

88 master frame
10mm offset odyssey pro flatland forks
35mm colony stem
haro kneesaver bars
A bike grips
dia compe front brake (tech 77/hombre)
peregrine front hub, sun rim
haro turbine freecoaster (12t) with alex supra alpha pro rim
dodgy seat post
dodgy seat
30t federal sprocket
sugino crank
odyssey pedals
khe mac 1.5 and primo v monster tyres with khe twiggy tubes
mix and match headset
hoffman pegs, rears need drilling out to fit the 14mm axle.

Ok, so its not going to win any awards ;D but i like it. Forks, brakes and seat will be black soon. Will get a rear brake at some point but no rush, i hardly use the rear brake anyway.

Different for sure! But looks solid. If you ever want to part with that frame, LMK  ;)

LOL, i did think of you when i took the forks off.

My mate keeps trying to talk me into getting a new school frame. The haro is a little long in the tail. When he finaly convinces me ill let you know.

I only just got it together, took it for a little roll outside. It feels realy 'together', feels nice. Very quick turning yet still stable and controlled. Looking forward to riding tomorrow.

its fine, its 2.5-1.

I mocked it up with an old 26/12 to see what clearance i had. Rode it like that once or twice then bought the right sprocket.

This frame is good for small gearing. The chainstay is low so you can still use teh chainstay brake, but because the chainstay steps out you still have decent chain clearance underneath.

Could run 28/11 easily too, probably wouldnt get away with 23/9 though.

Im only running this gearing as the freecoaster is 12t.

I need to take some freeplay out the hub though but ill let it bed in first.

Is that an 88 or 87  ???

Or has it had a re-spray  ???

Those late 80s Haro's make great riders, I had a really nice 88  8)
