Suntour XCII's Resto
« on: September 28, 2009, 05:40 PM »
Just finished these XCII's fellas.... wadda ya think?

They were a bit rough to start with so I stripped the cages, polished them up and had them re-anodised. Then just painted in the lettering as I think it looks better than the decals you can get. Painting the lettering is a piece of piss as well... just blob the paint over the lettering then wipe over with white spirit - the paint stays in the recessed lettering and just wipes off the top surface. Had to polish out some deep scratches so lost a bit of the bottom edge of the lettering but still think it looks pretty trick. Then polished up the bodies, fitted NOS Suntour screws and put new decals on the bodies  :daumenhoch:

sweet!!!  :daumenhoch:

get a white paint pen and fill in the text, before it's fully dry use a cotton bud and thinners to lift any excess from the cage.. 'or not ' because they do look great!  ;D

That's pretty much what I did fella... problem was that the bottom of some of the lettering got polished out when removing scratches so there's nothing to fill  :daumenhoch:
