Hmm cheers.. so the only way to id a UK supergoose is the extra holes in the brake bridge? (apart from weight)

The UK supergoose 3 does not have the 3 holes - only the USA.

To sum up - the UK supergoose frame is essentially an all tubes chro-mo cali/expert frame dated late '84 (prior to that point supergoose frames in the UK where the USA frame) with supergoose decals.

The key important thing is that the UK supergoose has chro-mo forks like the USA one, whereas a cali/expert does not.

So basically if there are no survivor decals to help ID it then - late '84 full chro-mo cali style frame + chro-mo forks = UK supergoose 3  :daumenhoch:

PS it was also known as the '75' model and the other things that made it a distinct model where the renthal bars and post in place of the stock mongoose equipment ;)

Bobafett,

Do you know if it is possible to identify if a set of forks are indeed chro-mo (aside from the weight)?

(Sorry for the thread hijack).

yes - but it would be difficult from a picture on their own - you'd really need them side by side with a set of cali ones as there is a slight diff - I'll try and stick a piccy later to show what I mean ;)

Also the later 86 triple butted cali's had chro-mo forks as standard - these are stamped "lungi chro-mo" so if you where trying to piece together a UK super I guess you could buy a set of these - although not strictly era correct they are full chro-mo  :)

I'll try and get some pics up of the earlier chro-mo / non chro-mo comparisons  :daumenhoch:

Weigh it without headset cups / BB cups and I can confirm for you  :daumenhoch:

Hmmmm..... dunno how accurate your scales are bud - but she seems a tad heavy for a full chro-mo to me - looks like she's weighed in around the 2.3kg mark ? :-\

Mine weighs in at 2.175kg on my digital scales.

I'm not breaking my blue max down to weigh a main-frame only chro-mo for ya  :LolLolLolLol:

Try some digi scales if ya can  :daumenhoch:

hmm..yours is light, heres a bit copied from jimmyp's monster thread:

"Well i weighed the frames this morning on proper scales used to weigh food and here are the results

The U.K. Supergoose Frame weight  2.370 kg

The USA Supergoose Frame weight 2.395 kg

The U.K. Supergoose Frame & Forks total weight is 3.235 kg

The USA Supurgoose Frame & Forks total weight is 3.250 kg"

Also mines stamped 03 under the brake bridge   :-\  whats that about?
