Hubs help needed - 16t freewheel to 13t cog
« on: March 08, 2006, 09:59 PM »
HELP!!!!

I've just acquired some new school wheels and the rear has a Bulletproof hub with a 16 tooth freewheel.

Anybody know if I can put the 13tooth cog from my Haro hub (Nyquist R2) on or willl I need to strip down both the hubs to get the relevant bits?

I hope that makes sense.

Or would it be easier just to get a longer chain!!!  :LolLolLolLol:

nope you would need to use a different hub as a small freewheel 13/14t is a different size to a 16+freewheel

Longer chain it is then.

feck.

That will screw my gearing up.

Thought that I might have been able to remove the inners from the haro hub to the Bulletproof hub so I can get my 13t on there.

you need to have a flip flop hub which allows you to run various sizes. one side runs 14 /15 tooth, and some 13 tooth freewheels, and the other side allows you to run 16/17/18 tooth freewheels. if you want to run a 13 you'll need that sized thread, stripping the hubs wont help, you need to change the hub. if you want to run all sizes of sprocket size get a cassete hub, were you can run as low as a 9 tooth up to 18. hope that helps.

Cheers Alan

that spells it out nicely.

Will have to get a longer chain for now then until I get the hub sorted.

thanks

Jim
