S+M Kris Bennett project
« on: September 04, 2009, 12:11 PM »
Ok, this arrived this morning.  £100 complete as is.  Not bad I think

Its a 99 or 2000 according to what ive seen on the museum, cant find a serial number yet under all the layers of rattle can spray!

S+M Kris Bennett frame 21"  TT
Pitch forks
Redneck
Bars cut down, they look like slams
175mm Primo power bites, USA BB
Primo pedals
S+M Solid chainring
fat motor cycle chain!
Tech 77 dirt lever
Alex supra E 48s
Seventies hubs unsealed
Dirt monsters
Primo seat
unknown clamp and post
AD 990s

It weighs: 35.86 pounds or 16.26KG probably heavier than a heavy as fook!

Proposed plans:
Im going to raw it, and clear coat, Bennett decals if I can find any and make it a rider.  Its not going to be era correct, as I want it lighter than it is now.

36hole chrome rims, sealed hubs
Kevlar tyres front and rear
1 set of pegs
profile cranks (Dont like powerbites)
uncut chrome slams
front brakes
gyro
pivotal post and seat
XLT stem and clamp
S+M DX pedals
probably 10/28 gearing and a normal chain!

that should bring the weight down substantially

What a beast. Are you sure you want to ride it? Weigh the frame when its all stripped down

I think the only "Bennett" sticker was the downtube. They just had a shield on the headtube and seattube.

Good buy! Looks like the earlier Redneck on there as well, could you cut the bars down a bit though

Nice buy Glen, had the old mouse on "buy it now" first time that was listed, but couldn't make my mind up.

I'm quite jealous now, think that's a great buy, looking forward to seeing your project finished.

is that the anchor from an oil tanker i see before my eyes?

or part of an oil rig?

did it come on a hgv flatbed?

no,

its a bennet!!

beast of a frame, an absolute behemoth,

some say the tubes arent tubes at all, but solid bar,

some say they were cast from the fires of mount doom itself,

some say each frame contains the remains of a sacrificed kitten,

some say everytime you land a jump on one the earth shifts its orbit slightly,

i love it! :smitten:

(want some s&m berriger bars for it?)

Your Bennett looks way tidy. The dropouts are really clean and the welds all look great.

WOW!  thats nuts!  You cant see it with the naked eye - an my vision is perfect!

I had a clear coat PBR that was just like that. You could see all the tube spec all over it. It was really cool.

Check out the seat tube in this pic.

Nice work Glen, Good Job.

Sorry to say that I really dont like those frames. Im not a NS Skooter kid, but the top tube is way to high and the "lazy lob" wishbone makes it look worse. I didnt like mine at all, I never got on with it.  :-[

Great job there mate :daumenhoch: can't say the stem & sprocket suit the finished bike though, imho...
