ive had good luck with 990 plates on the front. the trick to take any flex out is to make sure it has a stong bolt that you can put some tourque to and use washers on the bolt behind the plate to where the plate rest equally on the steerer tube and fork legs. that way the plate doesnt get pulled back/angled towards where its being clamped by the bolt and "teeter".

Its also a good idea to use hose clamps just above or below (depending on the make of brake plate) the brake lugs, stops and movement side to side and eliminates any pivoting

I've got a Hoffman plate made from alloy, no flex if you use a decent bolt but being alloy it's thicker so sticks the front brake out a bit more than steel, I'll dig it out if you're interested  :daumenhoch:

Hopefully the bolt is still with it, I can't remember! I'll be able to get at it a bit later this afternoon.

Huh? You're right, it's not a Greek restaurant, it's a brake plate.
