Decal removal

Oh wise ones,

Did I read somewhere that you can remove decals using a hairdryer? If so can anyone tell me more and if the decals taken off can be reused and still look as good?  Your knowledge and experience will be received with much gratitude.

Chances are they will never go back on really nicely.

You can get them off with a hairdryer, but you will never get them off in a 100% re-usable state (there's always a little stretch and the edges curl a little under the heat)
