Author Topic: today i have mostly been rit dyeing (Read 1666 times)

ok chaps ,i'v seen rit dye mentioned on the american forums quit a lot
so thought i'd get some and give it go ,,,seems dylon is getting harder to find ,,so this could be the next step

picked up some white tuffs from paul (harorider) yesterday ,,and got on with the bleaching

after the bleaching ,,the one on the left is the bleached one

then it was onto the dyeing ,,,got myself an old bin ,and placed it on one of those camping stoves ,,to keep the heat constant ...
the chain is part of the health and safety at work act 2009 dyeing tuffs at home safely chapter 1

check the steam constant heat (nice)

two hours later out it comes and time for wd40

and the end result ,,not bad me thinks

this result was acheived ,with one small packet of royal blue rit dye about an egg cup full ,,,they also do a liquid twice the strength

just the hubs to polish ,,job done

That looks a proper job! if they are to go on that Curtis they will look wicked, I have just ordered some black to try on a couple of seats,Did you have to add salt like with Dylon?

sorry dude not for sale ,,only just got it last week ,,i do know of one for sale in og chrome ,,maybe a bit pricey though

theres no mention of salt in the destructions ,,but i put half a bag in just for good measure

i intend to put them on the curtis ,,after it has had a nice new powder job ,in gt yellow

its true i was looking around for anything to dye ,,nearly chucked in a pair of nos oakley f1's for the sake of it

i even contemplated a mint red kashi mx ,,,but thought the colour might be a bit strange so o banged in a pair of pliers with red grips ,,,they came out a plumb colour

back on a serious note i did the second wheel today in the same solution ,,so one packet is enough ,,,and i might chuck some zeds in there next week some time ,,,good stuff this rit

Fook me this Rit stuff is AMAZING.

I know people in the past people have had trouble using Dylon on Elina saddles,so in for a penny in for a pound.
Started with this:

Then into the Rit potion,well pooping myself by then by the way!

Ended up with this

,kept checking it and it was fully black after 5 minutes but left it in for 30 minutes to be safe,probably too long as it dyed the gold lettering slightly bronze,but still well pleased
