what to do?
« on: August 24, 2009, 04:24 PM »
I recently won a hutch clamp on ebay with this decription and this picture:

"Hutch Blue Ano Seat Clamp Donut in almost NOS condition. Getting harder and harder to find the real deal."

When it eventually arrived, it arrived cracked, see my clear pics below.  As far as im concerned this is no where near NOS, its fookin damaged!
Should I send it back for a refund or keep it or what?

When I let him know it was not as described, this was the response:

"Hi I'm glad you got the clamp, but not happy you feel it's not
almost nos. I believe it is and have talked about it based on my
thoughts of the product.
This item is the real deal and you'll struggle to find another.
The pictures show the slight nic in the threads and that is why I
didn't mention it.

Let me know what you wanna do as re-listing is no problem as I
know it will go for the same price again, in the almost mint
condition its in."

The ebay pic cleverly disguised in the funny red light, you cant see its cracked from the pic:

What it really looks like:

i think him describing it as nearly nos is a big piss take but you can see some of the damage if you look for it.... a clearer picture would have been more helpful.  but the more i think of this the more it stinks how can something with a 'nick' be nearly nos.

but then i dont believe in nearly nos its nos or its not! simples.

personally id send it back, he seems happy to take it back... but get him to refund your postage as the description sucks...

Make sure it's insured and RECORDED as an unscrupulous guy would receive the clamp in the post then pretend that it hadn't turned up.  At least he can't pull that one if it's tracked. :daumenhoch:

Looking at the inside of it ( no marks ) I'd be asking myself if it'd been re-anno'ed ? .

Get it sent back Glen  :daumenhoch:

Was it a US or UK seller ? .

This near NOS or NOS condition bull shit gets on my nerves nowadays, its either NOS in its packet (or no packet and slightly shop soiled) or not at all, end of. Send it back Glen and put a turd in the post with it also, fooking hate people like that  :tickedoff: :2gunsfiring_v1:

left him neutral feedback because i am keeping them, i did email him and he did say they had a slight rip, my decription is half the end cap is hanging off will need carefull glueing and carefull installing when i put them on a bike, keeping them because they are just too hard to find, but yeah it was good positioning on his behalf
