smallest sprocket with USA BB
« on: August 26, 2009, 08:04 PM »
Sprockets smaller than 40t are a mystery to me LOL

I am thinking of fitting a 9t freecoaster hub so would need something like a 23t sprocket.

Will this work with a USA BB and a 1 piece crank?

When do you start to get into 'micro' teritory? (i dont even know what that means really!)

Thanks.

its all about the rear geometry   some bikes will let you fit microdrive  but some will make the chain rub on the underside of the chainstay
some will some wont...i did run a 10t rear and 28t on my trickstar

cr*p, hadnt thought about that.

Ive got chainstay brakes too (88 haro master)

Can anyone tell me the diameter of 9t drivers and 23t sprockets? Then i can try and work out if it will fit.

Or, diameters of drivers/sprockets near these sizes to give me some idea.

I guess im going to need the diameter without the teeth so i can work out where the inside of the chain will be.

:) Most modern day sprockets are made to fit on 3 pc cranks, either 22 or 19mm borehole.Chainwheels for 1 pc cranks usually need 23.8mm borehole sprockets so take care before buying anything.

I know its unlikely, but i'd like to know for sure.

If not, can i fit a bigger driver to a KHE geisha light freecoaster hub?

Been looking at my bike, and pics online, i MAY just get away with it, the curved chainstays look likt they will help.

Ill look into bigger drivers for it though. I know nothing about this kind of hub so i dont know if you can fit different size drivers or not.
I found one 10t driver for it, but are the drivers hub specific?

I was wrong, its an 11t i can get for the geisha. An extra $50 though!

Apparantly they used to come with 11t, but now 9t.

I guess its going to be pretty hard to work out if it will all fit/work or not without buying the stuff and trying it :-\

Its an 88 haro master, run with the rear as short as possible.

I just fancied a freecoaster and the 9t geisha is available cheap :)

Thanks.

Oh, i assume the 88 has the same rear end as all the other masters with the chainstay stands.

bof
