wheres the old school?
« on: August 24, 2009, 08:28 PM »
just my opinion but has the "old school" world disapeared from the site?
it seems to be "nu skool this new skool that" "look at my nu skool bike" "my nu skool paint job"
im not dissing it but i thought this was an "old school bmx site" and since mk ive got bored of it all as knowone seems to be building, buying or talking about the old bikes anymore
sorry to moan but im just losing interest and need some incentive
im seriuosly considering selling everything

i feel just the same, the buzz has been lost a bit (a lot really) all around.... i just cannot pin-point exactly what it is, if it wasnt for peeps like n2cus then i think it would be practically dead, with only the odd build coming up now and again....   :'(
R.I.P  O.M. Far short of the finish line...

Can we all have a group hug and it'll all be better

The site does seem to have gone somewhat towards n/s but the roots of the site and it's members is o/s, not gone, not forgotten just playing in other areas until they get bored  :daumenhoch:

I think the lack of builds is mainly cos very few people have any money, and the ones that do are worried about the future etc.

i have seen loads of stuff I would have bought a couple of years ago, but what with redundancy etc, I just cant justify spending cashola on bmx right now.
On the upside, I think prices will drop and the market will get busy again, and so will the builds.

Personally I cant wait to get my teeth into another build.
A long time ago, in a land far away!

:) No reason why you should consider selling up just because things are a bit slow on here. You`re as much a part of RAD/the OS BMX scene as anyone, maybe your posts can kick-start things again. As for the nu-school thing,a lot of members are still riding now both competetivly and just for fun so maybe it appeals to them? This site is probably one of (the?) best around as it has everything to do with BMX,not just OS which is why it appeals to me.It`s been said that nu-school BMXers should learn their history, perhaps OS BMXers should learn about the current scene?

+ 1 heywood , with the exception that it is best site around ,   :daumenhoch: , spesh didn't you post up little spesh ripping up the local track?  on a mini burner?   isn't that enough inspiration , when you built the mini did you have the little guy in mind?  i think we all go through the doubt period as in whats the point of hoarding all these bikes etc etc but then somthing will turn your thoughhts back to the fun part ,, a bank in a city center you drive past at work and you think i could do a nice kick turn on that  :daumenhoch:   , haveing said that can i ave did dobs on the sport ?    :LolLolLolLol:  Donnydresser has posted in this thread that gives me a bit of inspiration knowing there's someone near me intrested in the same shite as me,   not to sound gay or owt dresser fancy meeting up few beers talk riding?  pm dude ( sorry for snipeing the thread spesh)  :)

Maybe Old school is in the sections that start with.................................Old school...........

BMX Chat however is for chat of a BMX nature, I.e anything BMX, including debate of this nature OR new BMX products, trends fashions........Chat

Everything has a place on rad, even non bmx craic/shite. The titles of each section are a dead giveaway  :daumenhoch:

Seems to be enough old school stuff going on  , even though at this year it has slowed down

Still plenty in the wanted  section , BOTM ,etc

Just maybe you mean nothing different happening

I love the O/S  but it is limited, lots of choice but still limited as it has a finishhing date at the 90's

You could give the N/S a go if you haven't ventured , it may give you a spark down another great avenue in the BMX world  :daumenhoch:

jealous?

you're not a bmx'er in any way shape of form and never were.

i love the old school, and the mid, and the new.

part of the problem is the the cost of building an old school project these days,
it was inevitable i suppose as parts get rarer and more sought after,

its still alive and kicking though, i just think folk are becoming more selective and thoughtful about what they're building so theres a little "slow-down" in how many builds we're seeing,

Personally, I'm glad that more people are getting into new school.  We'll always be old schoolers because that's when the love affair with BMX started.  I like talking about the old days as much as the next person, but I enjoy riding new school bikes more than talking about/collecting stuff from the past.

I'll always have respect for the old school and enjoy looking at old school rides.  But I have no interest in collecting them anymore.  I'll just keep one old school bike as a rider for the odd old school race should it take my fancy.

"go on yer bugger :-*  "

none taken :LolLolLolLol:

i dont really consider myself from any particular era tbh so it matters not to me ;)

just a bmx'er,

the new school is looking stronger than ever, the mid school is getting the respect it deservers,
and both of the above are fook all without the old school roots, its all good.
