Any Tips on Mastering the Old School Rollback?
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:25 PM »
Back in the day I was pretty cool at the old roll back...pulling a 360 on the front wheel....then rolling back smooth as you like into a 360 on the back wheel....I knew it looked hot and i was the king on my street (I must have been cos I had a yes helmet)...these days I just can't seem to get to grips with the rollback...any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Old Tricks like rockwalks, kick turns I nailed in seconds but this rollback is starting to make me angry. :-\

Should I just sack it off and stick to bunnyhops?
Cheers in Advance.

p.s I don't run a coaster brake.

You need your seat at a good height, roll backs are much easier to dial in when seated, keep your arms fairly straight.
If your struggling with the pedaling backwards thing have a go standing on your rear pegs.

also; as you start the first rotation, set your leading pedal to be slightly lower than normal. I remember finding it helped.

Watch out for the schoolboy error or leaning forword as you start to go backwards.   If anything lean back slightly,, helps me anyways and I can go for as long as a bank goes or my momentum dies( no coaster ither  :P ).

have you tried standing up to do them?

i started to learn them sat down, but Radhab said to do them standing up, and it seemed easier once i had got used to it.
