Stuck Nut!!!
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:06 AM »
Excuse the title!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Right i went about fitting the crank (Sugino GT, if it helps) on my TNT yesterday and fitted it all very loosely just to make sure all was present and accounted for.

And when i went to adjust the nut which holds the bearings in on the drive side it loosened just by turning with my hand and then completely locked up.

And it just won't budge, i've tried everything, me and two mates sat for about an hour yesterday and just can't shift it, either loosening or tightening. I don't think it could have threaded it self stuck because, as i said, it turned by hand first.

What could be the problem? A bit of grit stuck in the thread?  ???

Oh, and just to make things worse, i can't take the axle out, due to the fact the non-drive crank arm is stuck on the axle!!!  :tickedoff:

Any ideas how to solve that one while we're at it?  :buck2:

Btw, i've tried everything i can think of with the crank arm before i started fitting it all together. Soaked in WD40 for a week, pure brute force, trying to wiggle it out with a vice..... I could go on all day.
