Another tyre related question
« on: July 20, 2009, 05:29 PM »
Hi all,

After riding at the Worlds last weekend, I've decided it's about time I built a new bike and started riding regularly again.

Since I started looking around at options, I noticed that a lot of vert riders are running pretty skinny tyres. I always used to run 2.0's but these days there only seem to be smaller or larger options - 1.85 or 2.10.

I'm not one to be swayed by looks alone, but personally I think the skinnier one's look daft! Is there actually any advantage to using slimmer tyres?

I had a pair of Miracle 2.10's recently. Would definitely use Maxxis again.

Just wondering if there's supposed to be any advantage to using thinner tyres though. Other than saving a few grams in weight!

Smaller tyres flex less & make the bike a bit more responsive?
Do you grovel to your master? Do you beg like a dog?

The fat tires are all the rage at the moment with the kids. I ran Maxxis Miracles for a while - theyre ok - just pump them up real hard. I now run khe park tires 1.9 and once you have them you will never want anything else...
