dan we painted dyno rod vans at work a few years ago,you have to use a white base coat then the dayglo colour goes on which is more like a lacquer, then a clear coat over the orange, but it tends to fade very quickly ;)
British race frames and race clothing wanted

Yes thats cottys ripper , there is a bit of history to go with the frame . It was owned by carlo griggs and was painted flouro orange when it was given to him by SE . It was hunterdubbers first old skool purchase off ebay and probably the only bike dubber has had and not lost any money on it  :2funny:
Cottys sparring partner phil critchlow had it painted for him in stoke somewhere, it was matched to a tiny flake of flouro left in the seat tube. I had a conversation with Phil over the paint job and I was stunned when he said it cost £30  but then added that it also cost him £90 for the undercoat, top coat and thinners.
Dan if you are interested I could speak to phil for you and get some more info. LMK  :daumenhoch:

Okay Dan  ;)

Here's the lowdown

I bought the original bike from a guy /collector a few years ago ( some of you may know called Julian Hammond ,

he got the bike from the one and only Carlo Griggs  :4_17_5:

I contacted Carlo , who confirmed that this bike was supplied to him in 89/90 in this one off spec and colour

which all made sense because I'd owned it about a year and couldn't really find anything it related to

The frame came without any cable guides and without a hole at the bottom of the seattube ,
basically like the type from 85/86 after the straight stays but that was odd for a frame from 89/90

The thing is I undid everything on the bike and changed it to a Black Ripper on Tuffs ( bad move I know now , but I liked it )

About 18 months ago I think I sold it to Mark Coterill ( Cotty )

and basically he's made it his mission to get as much of it back to original with a bit of a deviation on spec

I believe the colour was a total mare, ( done completed in abbout 3 different attempts)

I was knocked out when Mark showed me the bike again on Saturday

Hats off to the guy he 's done a truly STUNNING job  :4_17_5: x1000

It's hard to believe that bike has been about 13 feet above a ten foot ramp riidden by a great Freestyle rider

and still around twenty years on  :daumenhoch:

If there was a Tag on it telling it's history , maybe it would have got a commendation medal , ::)

I think so , as there was a fair bit  of interest in the bike , lots of pondering  going on  :smitten:

Carlo actually gave the bike to Justin as he had got his own  nicked just before  Bournmouth Backyard jam , I think

I thought that was the regular design for those frames between 86-90, no holes, no cable guides, just before the P.K.R-XL was introduced
I have one of those.

Thanks for the bit of history, tis a real head turner now  :daumenhoch:
