skyway ta question
« on: February 25, 2006, 11:40 PM »
fellas i bought a ta off us ebay which was advertised as a '86 made by se racing???? but took a chance and having picked it up its serial was 2-84 0008818,so happy days. The question i have for you skyway lads is concerning the rear brake bridge.mine has a straight one but i thought 84 made ones should be the curved type, with 86 ones having the straight type.ive tried to check the museum but strangley enough no one is weird enough to take pictures of brake bridges!thanks for any info.

alot of frame sets are old but not old, they were recently welded up in 2003ish out of misc parts

have a look at the rear drop outs, per chance do you have two lefts or rights :)

Orb, I think you mean the front drop outs being both one sided

Anyway TA's were first made with the curved brake bridge then they were changed late 84 from memory

i was under the impression that the straight bridge was only run for a short time in 83-84 and they went back to the arch bridge because of the crush? i'm not sure about the 02 models though but i think SE had finished doing the do by the time those bits were bought out of storage so although they might have been finished by SE's crew technically and being nerdish it couldn't have been SE racing by 02 when they were done because Fuji had them by then. :wtf: is this nerd talking about you may ask?

thanks fellas, originally i bought this as a rider,as i wasnt expecting too much as it was advertised as an 86 but now it turns out to be an earlier 84 it might be my first resto project.as i said it was advertised on the bay as made by se racing but i put this down to the seller not knowing what he was talking about.

ORB looked at the rear drop outs and they are a pair.they both have the knurled bits on the outside with skyway stamped above the drop outs.

thanks to every one else for your inputs.

I had one of each, but Phil now has the straight brake bridge one, don`t know what the serial no. is though, perhaps Phil will add to this thread  :daumenhoch:

what about the k numbered ones. mine has a curved brake bridge but the serial number starts with a k and there is no date stamped on it.
