Can someone please explain how a freecoaster works. Is it like a old school caoster?

old school coaster but rather than the brake coming on it just glides backwards  without the pedals moving.
put weight on the leading pedal and you will pedal back like normal, put pressure on the trailing pedal it will coast again..

Dude!!!

Its a bit daft binning bolts to save a bit of weight

Weigh the bolts you took out, bet your talking ounces?

They're there for a reason dude, one heavy landing, bars slip, face plant... not nice...  :(

Put em all back, or replace with lighter ones if weight matters that much...  :-\

Dont be a weight weeny...  :D
