Halfords Turbo Buid with pictures added.
« on: June 27, 2009, 06:21 PM »
Was given this pile of metal today and am confused as to what it is.

Can anyone shed any light on it as there are a few distinctive parts to it. Thought at first it was a Burner due to the gusset but been through the museum and this doesn't match anything really.

I've seen the bars before but i don't know what they are.  SR crank and chainring.

Over to you guys then, check out the decorative bits around the gusset and seat clamp bit.

It has a large seat post in it 25.8 i think and a small BB, certainly not  a US one.

Could be skip fodder  :LolLolLolLol:

Coming soon to RADBMX............. :LolLolLolLol:

This is so nearly finished. I know it's not a Hutch,Quad or a Skyway but it's been rebuilt by my 14yr old son and it looks the dogs nutzzzz. :4_17_5:

I had one of these BITD & at the time didn't really like it   :(

But when you look at it, it was a bit ahead of its time as far as the BB & Seatpost go  ???

I quite like them now  8)

Should look sweet when it's built up and the young-un will be over the moon with it. :daumenhoch:

Has crazy Burner-style geometry (was this a British thing?) - the angle of the chain stays almost follows the line of the down tube :D

Here you go guys.....  No bike snobs allowed and no laughing.

Total nostalgia time, this bike has been restored over the last few months by my son Last Place Reece on here. To be honest i thought it was going to be a nightmare to do as some of the parts were well screwed.

Some brilliant people on here came to our rescue with their unwanted parts. Things like the drive arm on the unrestored bike was totally screwed but we managed to source one from Electro 808 which was superb. Joe 6187 came good on the crank caps and the pedal caps, John ( Bobafett) sorted us out with the wheels and tyres, which he needed as you'll understand from the first picture :LolLolLolLol: cheers chaps.  :daumenhoch:  Also Thanks go to Phil (sawzall) for the seat resto and Del for the obvious.

I think thats it  :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

Anyway other than the wheels and bars Reece did his best in restoring all the other parts off the frame when we first got it.

How many of you now are going to remember these bikes from the early 80's as your first BMX or even your mates BMX that you laughed at.

Enjoy.......

EDIT>>>>> We're aware that the seat stay sticker and the headtube sticker are incorrect but without the originals or a scan of the originals Del was unable to make them. They should look like this and if anyone knows of one please let me know so we can grab an exact copy.
