.................of Lemon  :LolLolLolLol:

Did a post a while back about my successes using lemon juice to remove rust from seat guts : http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=87403.0
.....and I also commented at the time how I was dissapointed when I tried coke on them first...... and after reading swivels' sticky again on the coke/foil rust removal method I got to thinking about trying a lemon juice/foil variation of the method on a set of rusty forks I had - same basic prinicipal as swivels' sticky but replaced the coke for lemon juice - the forks were never going to be mint as they had scrathces n sh!t before I started but they're a damn site better:

don't you find that coke Zero works better than plain Coke - plus it doesn't leave everything sticky...

Lemon juice has to be a better and far cheaper option than using Coke

fook me this hobby could get even more expensive  :-\

How did you apply the juice or were the forks placed in a large container? Very interested to know – the results look amazing by the way – I want to give it a go on my old chrome race bike!

Cheers.

Lemon juice in a small bowl, scrunchup a ball of tin foil, dip it in the juice, and............. rub a dub dub  :LolLolLolLol:

Keep dipping in the juice regularly - you end up getting a sparkly grey juice (yum  :buck2:) as the tin foil breaks down but this is good - acts like a mild abrassive paste ;)

You could try just submersing them in the juice - i have had very good results with this on small items such as seat clamps (if you follow my link in my first post at the top of this topic you will see) but firstly I didn't have enough juice for that  :-[ and secondly i had been wanting to try the foil method - for more on that have a look in tech n resto stickies for matt's (swivel) original haro resto (i've pretty much done the same here with the foil just used lemon juice in place of coke)

No mate.

Bowl of lemon juice - nice sized piece of scrunched up foil dipped in regularly - and then rub a dub dub  :D

The foil starts to break down into tiny foil particles and this is what you want - acts like a light abrasive  ;)

Might wanna wear some gloves as it gets into your pores after a bit and it's a fooker to wash off - trust me :LolLolLolLol:

Get some before and after pics up  :daumenhoch:

Yup - just for rust really - I'd stick to autosol / peek for half decent chrome  ;)
