beat finished at last....
« on: February 27, 2006, 11:04 AM »
Finished my Beat off last night (see pictures below) then i had to take it out for it's maiden ride........took it around the block and was well impressed!  as i headed back home from a 5/10 minute ride around my local town centre (i live right next to it) i felt like a kid all over again and little humps started to be viewed as ramps and i was happily jumping over everything!  then it all went wrong!!  i have ridden mountain bikes for the past 6 or so years and as i came up the the curb i went to pull up on the bars to lift the front end......well i hadn't thought about the weight factor and the Beat being much lighter than my Mountain bike.

I pulled up the front end.....and.....whack! i was on my back with the beat on top of me!!  i saved it though and it never got as much as a scratch on it!  i felt a right front bum! and rode off with a huge dent to my male pride (as two teenage girls saw the whole thing and were wetting themselves!   ::)

funny story dude.
hey last night i saw some old geezer on a bright green bmx. he fell off it and landed on his back in the town centre!!

nice looking bike too. does that front brake clear the downtube?
looking forward to seeing it in action

just a thought but how about cutting your losses with the white zytecs (they never get gleaming white) and giving them an experimental green dye?

not a bad idea...but as it's a rider i'm not too fussed about them being a little 'off' white  :)

I did more or less the same on my Beat, pulled up hard to bunny hop a curb and ended up nearly flipping it! Managed to ride out of it Ok, good job as it was a saturday afternoon in the middle of town. You forget how light they are compared to mountain bikes. I'm used to riding a cannondale chase, which weighs a ton by comparison. I love the way streetbeats handle though. Really responsive.

Nice build by the way!!!

Even the 8 pint didnt help the pain ,but the 7 wk off work was nice !  ::)
