EDDIE FIOLA REPLICA
« on: February 26, 2006, 02:25 PM »
I've just bought a complete '84 GT Performer and I am seriously thinking about building a "Fiola Replica" though I am not sure whether to do it all yellow or apply another of his many colour schemes

Does anyone have any scans of his early GT's that I can use for reference and to help me decide which colour scheme to go for

Thanks very much

steve
there are loads you can do, remember the white one on the front of action bike, or the chrome with the blue tuffs and white tyres (my favourite) or the ones with the 1 3/8 rims, speak to jazzchimp for photos if ya wanna do a flying banana as he has jays one that won b/mouth last year

My 1st choice will be a mid 80's "Flying Banana" replica but this depends on buying a pair of decent yellow Tuff II's

Thanks QUADROPHENIA . . . you mean this one . . . what an awesome looking bike  :o

There was a picture of him on the front of one of the old BMX mags when he had a black and white colour scheme. That looked the dogs. Saw the cover again recently and it still rocked.

Hey Steve - welcome to the Performer club mate...a fine choice.

Like Pete said, you could choose from loads of different Fiola Reps...one of my favourites was the World Tour bike looked rad:

Or you could just go for your own style...here's my early '84:

Pete has got some lovely ones too; orange, black, white, chrome, pink, etc... he's posted several, so have a search around the site.

Good luck dude - remember to build it for you and choose something you want...not what is expected.

I love that early advert :smitten:

I have an early Pro Preformer build on the go that's going to be similar (although different colours) to the bike in that advert. In my opinion that's the best way to go for an early '84 Frameset (pro bars, tuff/pro neck stem etc).

The one I'm doing is more like the one in the picture I just posted. Small differences from the ad are the brakes and seat (and probably the pedals and grips).

I am doing an 85 at the moment. Got all the bits for it just need to drag myself down to the powdercoaters.
It will be yellow with yellow metal hub tuffs and then blue bits and will be an exact replica of the one I had as a kid BITD!

A guy who lived in Auckley near Doncaster won Fiolas actual Yellow GT Performer. Eddie donated it as a prize to Berry's BMX Shop in Doncaster when he was over here and the geeza from Auckley won it. It was Yellow(all yellow) with gold Hutch Cranks. The jammy bastard already had a VDC changa :(
I am trying to look up some old contacts to see if anyone knows his name and where he lives now.... it would be nice if he still had it :D
