are there any  modern  blocks that would work
well with calper brakes for my old school cruiser?

try the clear pads at the rad shop , sticky as fook !

As above, and they wont wear the anno off your rims.

As a satisfied customer I can verify that they make your black rims work as good or better than chrome. In fact Stodgy's probably got another order from me coming sometime soon.
