Headset problem

Hi guys im hoping someone on here may have had this problem before :D .
My problem is ive tried removing a headset to clean and regrease but the top of the adjusting thingy is totally flat on my old bikes there was raised bit to fit a headset spanner and so i cant undo it and if i could  would struggle to put it back on again and tighten it up sorry cant post any photos as camera is broke.Any ideas

Sounds like you need to use a pair of swan necks to remove it (gripping the knurling) and a light smear of grease on the threads when you put it back together  :daumenhoch:.
