Basic 180's
« on: June 04, 2009, 02:52 PM »
OK, so I suck at these, I've been practicing, but I just can't seem to get the technique.

Found a gentle incline slope to practice on, simply rolling up, *attempting* to 180 and then roll back down.  Only, I just can't get it down, I either don't rotate fully, and hardly get any pop to turn it around. Or, I get a aggressive, spin it around, but end up having to stick my foot out on the floor.

I know it come with practice, but any pointers on general technique would be appreciated. Should I be trying to do a bunnyhop at the top? Turning the bars, then my head? Anything would be great.

Cheers.  :)

ok, I'm no expert.

are you trying to ride up a slope, do a 180 and ride down it?

if so don't try a 180, carve a turn then hop 90 degrees and land going done at 45 degrees, then just get straighter and hop more.

oh yeah, you have to look where you want to go.

ps, a proper pro will be along soon to sort it out properly I'm sure.  :daumenhoch:

Cheers. Found it quite hard to read your reply without my eyes being dragged off to your avatar :D

I can get 90's, just getting a clean 180 seems like a million miles off at the minute.  :'(

just work up, 100s, then 110s each time your approach and roll out get a bit straighter.

You need to go quickish to get the momentum.Lift the front up and turn your body in the direction you need to rotate.Keep lookin' where you are heading and lift the rear.If you commit and not be scared you will do a 180 easy.Next step is a 360...

Are you doing it on a Driveway or a quarter?

The steeper it is the easier it'll be and I'd say do it on a quarter.
