First Build: White T/A - Done!!
« on: June 07, 2009, 03:32 PM »
Well it's only taken me 5 years to assemble and telling you that is probably a bad idea because I know I'd be expecting something special with that billing but well I'm an honest kinda guy so I'll just put my bike up and see what gets thrown and what sticks  :P

I'd always wanted a T/A as a lad ever since I saw the best freestyler in Livingston skatepark on his white one back in 83/84.  As I mastered the doubles on the bmx track on my burner I knew it was never gonna happen but the clean, pure lines of the T/A stuck with me all these years.  I bought this f/f about 5 years ago from ebay knowing the forks were wrong (yep - the rad police can score that one off the list!).  I then picked up a gen set of forks on US ebay and even though they've been powdered they don't match the frame so they're not going on for now til I either get the whole thing redone or find a painter who can match the finish of the frame.  The rest of the build is a bit of a hotchpotch of parts...I'm keen on the white/red/blue combo but the balance isn't totally there I know.   If anyone wants to swap their blue suntour stem for my red one you know where I am  :LolLolLolLol:

This build is primarily as a rider/ practice for my T/A XL build so it was more about trying things out and getting something together which I was happy with and not too precious to even consider taking out for a blast once in a while.  Most of the bits are either scrubbed up used or things I had around anyway.  By the way cheers to all the good guys on here that helped me out with parts - appreciate it  :daumenhoch:

Anyway comments welcome - I'm just chuffed I've actually managed to build the thing at long last!

Breakdown:

Frame:  Skyway T/A - not sure on year or serial as powder as hidden them but curved (and crushed!) brake bridge
Forks:  Not sure - they're nicely aerodynamic and welded neat?
Repop decals (in wrong place on forks & chainstay - yup I realise that too and not by my hand!
Wheels:  Skyway Tuff 2 alloy hub - donated by a mate and nitromorsd, dishwashed, stripped and rebuilt
Tyres:  Michelen thingymyjigs!  Bit chubby but not the bike for NOS comp3s!
Bars:  CW
Grips:  Ame rounds
Brake: DC MX1000 & Tec 3
Stem:  Suntour
Headset:  Hatta
Seatpost: Renthal layback
Seat:  Viscount Aero
Seatclamp:  Tange
Crank:  Takagi cr-mo 175
Chainring:  Tuf Neck
Pedals:  Shimano SX
