The shlug!?!

Was beefy as h3ll!

Should have a ride mag handy here with that in it. Think the Ad had a guy wearing one like a handlebar moustache, kinda mexican lookin'  ;D

Yeah it was called the Shlugg plate  :daumenhoch:  the bolt it came with was bigger as well, was beefy, very kind of squared off to some of the other plates.

Pretty sure Standard had one out at about the same time as well, but the Shlugg was up there with the first.

I got one when they first came out, the arms were too short and it never fitted any forks i had, i ended up using it on the back of my mongoose hooligan. still got it somewhere.

lol.. quality bit of kit then. so could you not actually run a front break with it then?

is it worth me trying to get one if i cant use it? if you do still have yours id be interested in it,

could always give it a go i suppose  :daumenhoch

Here's the Ad I was thinking of:

The same mag has it listed on the Backyard shop advert for £24.95, and there's also a standard 990 mount listed as well ( :daumenhoch: fugazi) for the same price.

The backyard ad also has the following bits listed (among LOADS of other sweet bits):

S&M Menstrual Cycles f&f - £382.95
Prince Albert Cranks - £221.95
Homeless Pornstar frame - £231.95
Standard STA - £430.00

Brian  :daumenhoch:

Edit: and a set of "herrington bikes" bars for... wait for it... £109.95

Just dug some old mags out, you forget how cheap Hoffman stuff was at the time

Hoffman Love Handles       £104.95
Hoffman superfork combo  £164.95

The problem with the fluffy toys plate was it didn't acount for the fact the hole location in the forks varied from make to make, hence the slotted hole in most other plates.

I think I still have a Hoffman plate, it's a bit different in as much as it's alloy so it's light, but it's thicker so the brake sticks out more, came on my ep waaaay back in '96/97.

fluffy toy was owned by two guys in brentwood, called si and steve

they brought the plate out just before the standard plates came out over here, they also did dust caps called capsuals, the capsuals also had another more filthy name but the couldnt sell them under that name lol

i got my anodoised yellow plate straight from the proto batch, i picked it up from si's house i think he had a box of them in his kitchen

si and steve both rode at rom with us quite a bit, and built alot of the brentwood common jumps and the early warley jumps, i think they used to help sponsor MIG from this site

they were both top guys and could really rip up rom

i had a chrome plate as well, and shortly after the first ones come out they release the long arm, which was just a longer version that fitted most bikes if i remeber rightly  :) :)

i still have a capsual on my 1" holmes, its been on the super pro for years lol, there is a pic in the thread in mid school

the early plates worked fine with s & m forks, i still have the 8mm hole in my early pitchforks

u just had to take a normal adjuster off a normal caliper and put that in the pinch bolt hole of the ad and the get a g sport nipple clamp and put that in the other side of the ad, they worked amazing

si's sta had one of the best front brakes u could want

id guess that the plate worked with standard forks as well as im pretty sure thats what si had at the time because he was running a nippon prior to him making the brake plates

thats all from memory, so i think its about right  :) :)
