Hi folks.

As some of you may be aware, I'm doing a charity ride for the british heart foundation in July and I've just received this e-mail:

Hi Paul
Thank you for registering for the Worcester Bike Ride and for supporting the British Heart Foundation.

I'm a press officer for the BHF and was wondering if you would be happy to help promote the event and the work of the BHF by sharing your story about why are you are doing the ride with the media?

I understand from your registration that your friend had a heart attack and feel it's time to do something worthy! I also understand that you specialise in old school BMXs and I think this would make a great picture for the newspapers. It would be great if you were willing for us to use your story to help urge others to sign up for the event and raise awareness of heart disease - which remains the UK's biggest killer. If you would rather not, we understand and wish you the best of luck at the event.

If however you are still happy to share your story, please could you answer the following questions and we'll draft a press release for the local media. Please give as much detail as possible.

So guys, should I or not, what would you do, I'm a bit nervous to be honest.

Paul

As they all say, the more exposure the better.... Good Luck with it!  :daumenhoch:

Just make sure you're employing better dress sense when the feature papparazzi come knocking  ;D

I'm sure there's a set of Oakley Braces under that coat and he's reaching for his secret weapon , a pair of MAX gators in the pocket!

Sorry Tim, I couldn't resist it.

Paul do it, you can only laugh about it in the future.
I used to get ALL the emails to Ride for any adulty type figure with a BMX involvement forwarded to me,  I've had a cheesetastic mini-doc on Teacher's TV as a result (CRINGE, but no regrets... I told them I sucked, they made me out to be a semi-professional, haha), but even better was the 1200 quid i got paid to write a book on BMX.. which I always find in the school libraries when I start at a new place.
AAAAAAAAND...    Charity is always worth it if you care about the cause

yeah Paul do it

get your pic taken, i'd go for the heavy metal outfit, out school bike and your oldschool lid, but without the mnouth guard so we can see your priddy face.

well done that man, just considering a charity run myself, but more about then I manage to get my fat ass up to the required 10k.

Thanks for the words guys, love you all :daumenhoch:

However I'm now in a quandry :(.

I haven't said yes to the request as I've since learned today, that the charity ride has 2 options: 32 miles or 48 miles (the 8 mile I signed up for was subsequently an error on the BHF event website for which they've apologised for the mistake).

What the fcuk do I do now guys...32 miles on a BMX...thats like longer than a marathon. I so badly wanna do this ride but I've nowhere near trained for that distance....there's a month left before the event (on 5th July). It's just not possible...is it?

Fook fook fook :-\

Is the 32 miles on the flat?

If it is then you can easy do it!!

Make sure you have a comfy seat and plenty of space to pedal.  Use a long layback and an XXL Stem might help with the comfort!!

And a good gear!!

Just keep chugging along!!

You have a month and you should be able to train enough by then!!

You'll do it!!   Although you might not be able to walk for a week afterwards!!  :LolLolLolLol:

If its hilly then your fooked!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Paul,

30 odd miles is a lot on a Bmx. But i would still say yes do it.
Just think it is for a very good cause and you will also be helping your own fittness.... Just take it at your own pace..

You with feel on top of the world after you finish and get your breath back.

Good luck with your choice.  :daumenhoch:
