too heavy for zytel?

i am building an old mongoose. i want to run tuffs or z rims, but i also want to be able to ride this bike
my memories of z-rims are doing cowboys and bending them in half. and i was a lot lighter then.

should i just stick with alloys?

who's running tuffs on a daily basis?

If you weigh more than 8 st don;t even think about it...unless you get graphite tuffs.

well in recent years i have crept past 8 stone.
i think the only mags that will support my ample girth will be piranha banana mags.

This could be debatable. BITD most of the top US and UK freestylers were using tuffs and i am pretty sure some of those big fellas weighed more than 8 stone.

Recent tests at NASA "have indicated that anything heavier than a butterfly (flapping its wings) would render the wheels too bendy to ride without the rims hitting the brake blocks on every pedal ". There we go, conclusive proof. Go with the alloys.

Dam! does this mean my blue tuffs i've got for my ride won't do the job?  I'm 15 stone (all muscle you understand) and have even thought about doing up my old Z's as well

with your weight those blue tuffs are virtually useless. in fact they are just in the way. a nuisance even.

sadly myself and mr stupple werent convinced of this poop that the guys at rom were giving us about spokes being stronger and faster.....but alas...we concided after stupps broke every spoke bar one on his graffys

believe me fella if tuffs were strong enough surely all the pros would use them...tuffs are more flexible than lizzy, the green godess.

got to agree about the tuffs wobling. i love to see a set of tuffs on a bike. but after riding at southsea on my old streetbeat i came to the concluesion that thats the best thing for them. to look at. mind i am 19 stone so that dont help.i know our phil oberon has them on his bike. and is still getting rad on them though  .

Tuffs do seem to flex a lot more now than bitd, the graphites are fine unless you sky the bike 20 foot in the air whilst trying to do backflips and it lands awkwardly, thus making a bit of a cracking sound 

Mind you I still rode with them for a couple of months after that before I realised that they were cracked  :o

Tuffs are cool and can take the weight, although the new placki hub ones do struggle a bit, one of the lads has a set of zytecs on his ride and he absolutaly goes for it on them, he's an ex body builder weighs 17 stoneish and only last week landed real awkward and heavy after over doing a 360 over a table top with the wheels taking full brunt of the impact, they just flexed and bounced back into shape (after catapulting him off), im sure tuffs in the same sitch' would have snapped, a bit of flex goes a long way in absorbing impact, graphites wouldnt of snapped though they would have shattered into a thousand over rated peices, nice for bling though.

iva always liked the zytecs i think better than tuffs and more value for your ££s .they are seadled hubs and i have tweaked a pair recently but never broke none .just put some z rims on my haro they is not that good they bend when i just look at the bike never mind ride it
