Street Beat vs Street styler
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:14 AM »
Morning chaps and chapesses

I know i want one of these to build but not sure which one. They both look the same f+f to me so does anyone know what the differences are as a f+f or built up and have a preference themselves?

Is one now rarer than the other?

Alansbmx sells NOS StreetStyler's f+f for £179 (plus p+p) (not sure of year)

http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php'manufacturers_id=72&products_id=1810

And I can get a StreetBeat from Canoshield (bmxmuseuam) for £230 (inc p+p) (not sure of year)

Need to find the cash for either but would welcome all comments/thoughts

Cheers

Lamby

i maybe wrong but the original street beat was pretty much a skyway TA front end with a diferent rear (platform) and 100% cromolly

the street beat you have in that picture was the very last model they did (MKII OR III) and i think it has AD mounts underneath the chain stays??

The street styler was a cheaper model if i remember and i'm sure it's not 100% cromolly??  sorry i think that was the street scene??   ???

like i say i could be wrong though

original street beat frames are still available at reasonable prices  :daumenhoch:

modern U brake mounts (lugs that are welded to the frame) rather than a drilled hole for a conventional caliper brake.

Lot smaller diameter round downtube is the easiest way to tell apart.
I have seen a few streetbeats stickered up as streetstylers.
The one in your pic is a late 80's probs 88/89 which has knurling on the toptube.

The production streetbeats bare no resemblence to the TA although there was some chrome prototype frames that Vanderspeck rode that had teardrop tubing up front (probs same as TA)
