Talk to me about pedal spindles.
« on: May 16, 2009, 08:33 PM »
Got the opportunity to buy some nos Diamond Back pedals.   Seeing as I have 3 Diamond Backs, with 1 more frame and fork on the way, this is a good thing.  However, the pedals I want are only available in 9/16 and I plan on using them with a 1pc which requires a 1/2 thread guage.

How easy is it to get pedal spindles. Are pedal spindles fairly standard, and can I change one for the other? Is it easy? do I also need different size bearings?

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

I suppose that  I've been imagining the spindles themselves are different - logically thinking, its only going to be the "threads" on the spindles that vary....  not the whole spindle *doh*!

Well I was never very practical....

Juju,

It depends on the pedals you want to change the spindles on, The DB MKS use standard MKS spindles and are different to the SR type pedal.

I think you'd probably have to buy a set of standard MKS pedals swap your spindles over as required and then sell on the standard MKS pedals again with the swapped over spindles  ;)
