2nd Gen Prince Albert Score? and a Dirt Bike
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:17 PM »
afternoon all, I just scored these cranks for £99, are they Prince Alberts, I think they are the 4th Gen ones:

also for my £99 I had to have all this other sh1te attached to them, which is a bit of a bind, but I'll live with it.  :daumenhoch:

Can't spot a serial number on this where should it be?

Super pro front, super pro rear rim on a  female threaded hub, G-sport? Redneck, Pitchforks? Slams.
seat and post are in need of replacing, the seat post clamp is a bit strange, big and bulky.
Profile chain ring and some JP pedals.

Rear hub does look like a Gsport hub, and those early clamp on rednecks are rare...  :daumenhoch:

Something somebody made for a metalwork class project?! Never seen anything like that before  :LolLolLolLol: My first thoughts were that it was part of an old school bolt on platform thing but there's nowhere for a platform to go through it, get it off there asap & weigh it in, must be worth something in scrap!

That's an awesome buy there  :daumenhoch: Not sure they are pa's but I may be wrong.

been trying to compare them to Alex's pictures but can;t tell.

maybe the cranks are more like the gen 2s than gen 4s?

They don't look as beefy as the 4th gens, can you take the crank bolt out/take arm off to see what type of splines it's got, might give a clue?

Nice one. Did you get the whole bike for £99 or just the cranks

okay, the cranks have a profile style axle, 48 spline, so not 2nd gen, but not chunky enough for 4th gen, but too oval for 3rd gens.

mmmmmmmmmmm. so now not sure. anyone (by anyone I mean Alex, lol) have an ideas how I can be sure.

also found the serial on my Dirt Bike, though the stickers look like they've been applied later...but by an amateur.

the frame has an old school style 22.2mm seat post but has 1 1/8" forks and an aheadset set up.

is this normal? if so what year is the frame

the 22.2mm seatpost and 1/18th aheadset is correct, this is the same as my 1/18th holmes, as for year i think it should be from around 96 as its more than likely its a early 1/18th  one due to the square edged redneck and the pitchforks have the same dropouts as the 1in ones not the later 1/18th ones which go underneath the fork leg

From those pics i would say that isn't a gsport hub. The mk1's had a smooth contour between flange and shell and also had allen head bolts, though obviously they could have been changed. The shell dipped in around 1mm x 1inch, the gap into which a cheap fonted sticker lay... :'(

well the hex head set screw in one side is a replacement, the other side has an Allen headed type.

but as to what make it is I'm not really sure, but I'm not complaining.  :daumenhoch:

well that was short lived, looks like under pressure from the missus, the dirt bike has to go.

anyone who frequents the midschool section interested in the cranks before I ebay them?
