Rom, it had a cracking skatepark right next to the track  :daumenhoch:

For me its gotta be:

Chelmsley Wood
Coxmoor
Bromsgrove
and of course... Birmingham Wheels  :P

Funny how our favourite tracks always seem to be those closest to us. (well they were in my case!!)

Leamington, my home track. 1st one tho. They ruined it about 6 years after it opened by changing it and taking out the huge hill drop.

Southbank nr. Middlesbrough...  fantastic track. Teesside Airport and Guisbrough had a great atmosphere, but Hartlepool was my fave track, loved it!!!

second Southbank and Hartlepool (very fast track cool first n second straights with big airs to be gained on table top n whoops) not keen on teesside though (didnt like the horseshoe whoops, too small)

Powder Monkey (Newcastle) was just about right first three straights...

I never saw you ride there Plinky - I thought you'd packed in before that was built...

It still looks like it's there - pic from Google Earth:

The Eastway track in Hackney used to be the place I raced at as a kid bitd, we had a team called the Brown's Jets (Brown's garage in Loughton Essex, used to supply us with a few bits and pieces and helped sponsor us) and was also where a certain Neil Ruffell used to ride if I remember correctly.

Did anyone on here ever venture round the berms at Eastway, I'd say about 1982 ish??

Does anyone remember Derby?? been racking my brains but I can't remember anything about it... think they call it Alzheimers

Yes, it was in the old greyhound stadium, now gone and replaced by luxury apartments. Quite a long flat track, not very exciting. And also the one at alvaston, crap in 83, still crap now.

I hated Derby Greyhound stadium track with a passion, you would race regionals all year on varying tracks that got more and more technical as the years went by, and come NBMXA championship you were faced with a flat boring track that only suited bigger, powerful and (in my opinion) less technial riders.  Never gave the smaller, technical (read more stylish) riders a chance.

Mr Stiddard you are wrong my friend. I was the original 8 stone skinny kid
who always did good at Derby on 42-16 3rd behind Geth in 84, was a bit
tame though untill they built the 1st doubles up.

There is always an exception Kev, I could reach the final, but in my age group Derby was so much better suited to people like Whopper Watkins etc who were 'power riders'.

I think that better tracks could have been used for the NBMXA Championship.

Out of the Derby tracks I thought Alveston was much better. The Derby Greyhound stadium track was very bumpy, lumpy, soft and a bit flat and jumpless even by old school standards I seem to remember. I never did anygood at any of the Greayhound standium Brits, but it was a top venue with a awesome atmosphere.

A couple of Brits pics of the two Derby tracks.

That rings a bell somewhere in the mist of my brain. I think it did, or was it just a pile of unused surface we all thought was a jump?

Any one remember when that kid fell through the roof of that shed by the big score board thingy must have been 85 or 86? Classic. :LolLolLolLol:

Yeah, I remember that, can't remember where it was exactly.  It was not too far away from me (Bristol) though.

I broke my leg there in 1982, not a racing injury mind, think my old pro star just fell over onto it.
