New school Haro...... Worth it?
« on: April 28, 2009, 11:58 PM »
Got given a F+F with cranks, last night. Which I believe to be one of these:

http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/haro/7633

I've been tinkering with the idea of starting riding, but with very limited funds, this is proving difficult. Was just wondering if it would be worth riding this????

Or would I be butting my head against a brick wall?

If it is no good, anyone know how much i might get for it?

if it's an F1 like on the link, it's the entry level model and made of hi-ten steel not Cro-mo which may be problematic  it you start shredding hard, but for pottering about and doing the odd trick here and there it should be ok. With haro's the higher the number the better the frame. Does it have any stickers at all on it?

Not sure F-series are worth that much, they were Haros entry model for years but basically if you were given the frame, I don't think there's any harm in doing it up. Especially if you're on a tight budget. Then if the tinkering with riding turns into a more time consuming hobby, trade the frame later.

That sounds so much like a John Ker letter page reply from BMX Plus! in the 80's !  :LolLolLolLol:

Very simple really, don't spend very much on it and use it...you'll have fun and wont lose anything on it when you want something a little more expensive.

Cheers guys!!!  :daumenhoch:

Think i'll do that then.

It came completely stickerless, but it looks like ab F1, and has the same cranks and chainring as in the pic, so i assume they were stock.

It is also VERY heavy. Is that going to prove a huge problem for a major novice? ???

You're right Joe, but he's short of cash and on a budget the Haro is better than nothing.  Better to ride anything than not.  The weight will make tricks harder, but when he does get on a better bike his bunny hop will end up on the moon  ;)
