stem issues

got new stem yesterday and tried fitting today .basically its 11/8 ahead style but my bars are too small for it its about 3mm too big once clamped up for the bars can u get adaptor/shim for these?
didnt even know there wasmore than one bar size i checked 4 pairs bars and they are all the same

are you using new school bars?

I never knew there was a difference in bar diameter at the stem tube, should the the stem have a shim? don't see what the point would be though.

what stem is it?

not an MTb stem is it? not that I thought MTb bars were fatter either, but just an idea.

some mountain bike stems come with a shim to fit bmx bars i belive. What stem you using?

What stem is it, sounds like it must be a MTB stem as they come in different sizes.

there's a shim for mtb stem to bmx bars

its brand new snafu stem looks like bmx one and as advertised as bmx on ebay too

post a piccy up Greg.....sounds like it could be a Downhill MTB stem which would be for 'oversized' bars  :daumenhoch:
