just couldnt resist this frame and forks they are great .gotta stem and rear brake coming this week .feels nice and long will have to give it thrashing at weekend see how it rides

took one of mine round crewe the other day and it feels great !! way more stable than that bloody titan i tried racing on . as for old or new , one of mine has had the canti mounts taken off and i will be running 1" forks so i say os legal

If the Frame was originally designed with Cantis then its not really OS legal.

There are plenty of longer TT Frames around that are but this is clearly not!!

if i were to use this in os racing would anyone really mind ? it's not like i would be at the front taking peoples valuable points , just wobbling round at the back having a laugh .

At a normal regional then we wouldn't mind.

Ade wasn't going to race but we forced him to ride his NS.

The Grands at Preston has a cash purse and trophies. Although you'd get an advantage riding a NS bike you would never get that much an advantage that you'd make the A Final.

Trouble is if everyone decided to get a NS frame and remove the cantis and get some reducers to fit a 1" headset.

If they see you doing it, then why can't they do it!!

The basic cut off point for OS bikes is around 1995. All bike after that time were cantis and 1 1/8 Headsets (except maybe some specialised brands) They were doing longer TT's up to 22" from the late 80's. So there are plenty of F+F's out there that are legal.

If your turned up at Preston and a Payback rider turned up with a modified NS bike then should you be allowed to race because your slow and the other lad turned away because he's too fast. The answer is no. You can't discriminate like that. You allow one then you would have to allow everyone. Then what is the point of Old School Racing.

If you ask Dan, he thinks any bike after 1985 is New School.

This has been debated about and while no one has the right answer, most people accept that if a bike was designed to have cantis then it can't be modded.

Although a reissue Burner or Skyway is acceptable because it is an old design.

Post on the Preston OS Grands thread and see what everyone's response is!!

I have spare 20.5" TT bikes that can be used if anyone is short of a ride!!

as Moley has already stated, this was debated at some length when MADDOG Russ wanted tor ace his S&M with a pitbull brake. it has AD mounts on the chainstays but a caliper mount at the normal spot. it had 1" threaded forks and a caliper brake fitted but the general view was that it wasn't truely OS legal as it still had the AD lugs fitted.

yes if they were taken off it would technically be legal but i think the view is that the frame should not be modified in any way to make it legal.

i can see both sides to the argument but i guess the rules are there for a reason?

my Hyper has a 21.5 tt and was made in 93......no canti lugs and 1" threaded forks so it's OS legal but some people still frown upon using such a bike as OS $:-\$
although when i do actually use it i'm still finishing when the next race starts

Don`t think the so called "re-issue" Burners should be allowed either.IMO they`re not an old design,just a crap one with a very vague resemblence to the old ones.....

But this is OS racing!! If everyone rode NS then whats the point.

The advantage a modified NS bike has over 80's/early 90's design is too great.

For us shite riders the advantage might be slim but it should be discouraged so that OS Racing stays Old School.

A nice OS Cruiser might be a better option if you prefer something a bit more stable to race.

With MK09 and Crewe having OS at their Grands event in August. Now is a good time to search for a F+F that is both OS Legal and rideable.

My Robinson XL felt great and was a better ride than my Redline 700. And I only finished building it the day before Crewe!!

Freeagent Limo's, Elf XX's, Greg's Haro XXL. Theres plenty of 21"+ frames that are legal. Ask MADD DOGG. He'll be flogging one about now!!

Preston is easier to ride than Crewe. It might be slightly more tiring because you have to pedal more but the jumps aren't as scary.

But as this event is a showcase for Old School then the rules should be adhered to. Hopefully everyone agrees with this.

Maybe the rules for OS should be decided so that everyone knows what they are and what rules they can bend!!

Have to agree with Moley that there should be more clarification on what should be OS legal.Perhaps those that enter on NS or modded bikes should forfeit any points scored and/or be limited to how many races they can enter per season?

I think Moley is getting a bit carried away over the length of said unit, yes, you can get a frame 21.5 or longer, but are very rare. Try 21" far more of those kicking about, and after riding your Titan a 21" will feel just right

21" OS legal frame do come up on the bay but not too often.....US ebay will have more as ELF, MCS, TNT and the odd HYPER Metro come up more often over there.

Elf DoubleCross XXL is 21.25" and are a good stable ride!!

Haro late 80's XXL is 22". MotomagII has one and I've seen a few around.

A 21" Frame with a good reach Stem should give you enough room.

I'm not too well up on the Freeagents. Ask Sanmarcopizza and Crooch.

TNT do long 'uns. Ask OrgasmDonor and Ron '2Elliot' Burgandy for advice.

A late 80's GT XXL should be up there too!!

A 90's XL should be 20.5" as basic ballpark (give or take)

Basically any early 90's XXL frame should be 21" and above.
