Does anyone have any pics or magazine scans of the World Championships in 1985 (Whistler, Canada).

In particular of Craig Schofield who was 20" Super Class World Champion that year....

If it helps the race was covered in December 85' issues of the BMX mags that year... can anyone help?

I seem to remember the articles (not that i have any old mags) as the course was built on the side of the mountain with very basic plastic webbing to stop riders plummeting down if they came off the course.

Would be really interested in seeing some scans if you have any luck.

You going for a whole "World Cup Winning" Rebuild then?? Cant wait to see it - i grew up in the same town as Craig - he was like the local BMX God as far as we were concerned.

Craig has sent me the actual Frame & Forks he won the World's on...

sadly it's not to keep.

He's asked me to restore it and build it up for him. I am just awaiting a delivery of all the parts he had fitted BITD.

Need the pics so we can confirm the EXACT spec and decals.

Anyone wishing to meet Craig Schofield... he will be the Star Guest at the BURNER BASH in two weeks time...

Got some AMAZING photo's through the post of Raleigh Old School Racing and some great ones of Craig....Many Thanks to Darren Wood (I will make sure your pics are safe and return them ASAP).

.... but I am still looking for a CLEAR photo of Craig racing in the Worlds Finals in Canada 1985....

Dave I think you'll find there were barely any reports of Craigs win...the U.S. Mags didn't even touch on his success,let alone print his photo.. TBH the UK mags left alot to be desired too...

I got a feeling it's going to be down to people who were there and took photos for their own use,hoping they surface... Surely the Schofield family have some they could make available in the name of documenting BMX history...

I always thought Craig never really got the credit he deserved. Although Ruffell became the "Face of Raleigh" towards the end, Schoffy had been the loyal workhorse since 1982 for the marque....

Hope you manage to get some images Dave and maybe it will be Ok to publish some of Darrens old photos from the early days too.

Funny Footnote: Check out the Weetabix Program from the Slough Worlds, where the Raleigh Team Advert has everyones face (except Craigs) primitively photoshopped out blank....

Just spend 20mins on phone with Darren Wood and he has helped fill in most of the 'blanks' and he is sure that BMX Racer & Freestyler had a good side profile picture of Craig on his bike from the 85' worlds.... :cool:

I'll be speaking Craig later so I will put in a request for some 'schofield' family photo...

And I am sure Darren won't mind me posting up some the pics he has sent me...

How about this for starters.... anyone name the full team pictured?

Found the correct mag right away within seconds....taken this long to get pic scanned in and on photobucket!

remember the issue well, was one of my faves at the time...the report of the worlds is pages long and loads happened...bear on track...kid going through the fencing and a 14 ft drop....

anyway..here's the pic. Loads of pics but only one of Craig on his bike..not brilliant...
