Gamblingay track, quarter pipe
« on: April 17, 2009, 04:23 PM »
HI all,

Just wondered if anyone here used to hang out at Gamblingay's track, my bmx days where kinda short but used to hang out there a hell of a lot.
Just wondered if anyone remembers a kid on an orange GT pro performer ?

Nice site btw , brings back so many memories.

Gamblingays pipe, never thought of it being over verted?
Had my share of crashes on it falling off the back and one time doing a huge ally-up and missing the ramp completly on the landing (had a huge scab on my chin for weeks cos of that one).

Stevenage skate park in the clover leaf .... now that was well diferent, kinda had a dip before the vert that threw you out, hated that place apart from the half pipe, used to ride there now and again with Mason Smith , Andy Rook ect.

Yeah they changed the track at some point and had some rough tarmack kinda layed in the center of the track, we used to roll down the side of the start hill to get a bit of extra speed for high airs (in my case this was about 2 foot out the pipe max  ;)  )

just out of intrest do you still ride now?, I'm like 39 years old and something seems to be drawing me back in, have all ready looked at e-bay ect for a new bike :)

The wicksteed park I didnt like it, didnt it used to have round edges on the vert ( if memory serves me right ? ) only rode it twice max, ramps have changed a huge amount since i used to ride, dont think i ever rode a pipe with coping on it  :D

Wickys park wasn't that great, it had some big cracks in it & was very uneven, no coping but I loved it, it was unique in some ways, can't beat a 70's concrete park for a riding challenge!
