NEWS UPDATE- OLD SCHOOL GRANDS
I have had a firm ticking off from the ladies at the North Region commitee for organising this event without their permission or tabling it for discussion at the last meeting. They are not against the event in principle or structure, just the fact that I've bypassed the normal channels. I apologised for this at Crewe, and will be forwarding a letter of apology later this evening. I have not been told that we cannot carry on with the event, so it's back to business....
The one important issue we have to clear up is licences. The North Region made an announcement yesterday that everybody must have a BC silver licence for the next event at Preston. I have checked this with Ian Brookes, the Preston Chairman and he has confirmed that as from the 1st May this is the case if you want to race in one of the Expert classes, with no exceptions for 'it's my first time'. The only way around this is to race in novices, but I really don't think we want to split the OS class at this event do we? I know it's a bitch, but it looks like we're going to have to work with it.
On the good news side, the event is now top of the BMX headlines page on the BC website and I've had news from Moley that the editor of BMX World Magazine (distributed to 35 countries!) has sent a message saying that he's an Old School fan and would welcome any coverage we can send him on this event for publication. We've already got Dubber's handsome face on the BC site, and now Northern OS is going worldwide. I'm moist.
The man to beat at Preston could well be JT Smooth, and he's very kindly offered to sponsor the event to the tune of 8 very cool t-shirts for the A-finalists....Cheers JT :daumenhoch:
We're also putting up more trophies for the winner of the B-Final, C-Final, D-final and so on!
Gunslingers and hustlers coming out of the woodwork include local legend Andy Lennon (still loyal to his Burner!), and maybe Mark Huddart if he can find an OS cruiser in time...anyone got owt for about fifty quid?... Any other names in the frame?, don't forget, all sandbaggers are welcome and you can race two classes if you want 8)
I'll get some pictures of the trophies tomorrow at gates.....Hold tight.

Who's got a couple of good size gazebos / marquee s for the show 'n'  shine bikes

and does anyone fancy nominating themselves as a judge for the bikes

could possibly do with around 3 or 4  people

Phil fruit would have been a good choice and Ruler Graham  but there's no chance of them showing

How about Mr Townshend   , ::)
 :)

I will be scrutineering the 'Old School' bikes 'raced' at this event. :tickedoff:

You guys will NOT be eligable to race if there is any component pre '85 on your bike. :2funny:

These are the NEW, Old school Rules, so think again. ;)

We need a dedicated Photographer!!

Someone with a good digital camera.

BMXWorld Magazine want pictures that are not shown anywhere else.  Probably so they've got the rights to them but they said so that the pictures are exclusive to their magazine.  Which I see the point.  Why buy a mag when the content is available elsewhere!!  ???

So if we can sort out a keen amateur photographer to take plenty of snaps then we can pick some choice ones that will go to BMXWorld ONLY.   If I can persuade someone to take Camcorder footage, along with plenty of details of the races, riders and show and shine.  Throw in some bullshit etc, etc then they should be able to contruct a decent enough story suitable for print (hopefully).    Key points would be action shots of OS Races.  A Big Group OS Photo.  Shit like that.

BMXWorld did a piece on the Brits but it had no photos and was just print.   So a bit of elbow bashing from Sandro and Al, throw in a Dubber crash or two.   It should make the cover!!  :LolLolLolLol:

So we need :-

Videographer
Photographer

Both to cover the racing.

I can provide the camcorder but my digital camera is shite for action shots.

I know a 'superb' photographer... who works for www.nationalpictures.co.uk

He's based in London but would possibly be up for a road trip... his family live in Rotherham. I'll ask... because his Pics are really really good..!!

Yeah but would he be willing to give up his photo's.   I dont think they'll pay for them and they want them to be exclusive, which means he can use them anywhere else.   :(

If it was me, I could care less.   I'd just be stoked to see them in a magazine!!!  :)
