Mk1 Raleigh Super Burner - mega cheap find
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:47 PM »
I was just browsing a local bike shop and what did they have for sale in the secondhand forecourt, but a Super Burner!  Even better, only £20!!!!

I'm going to get it on Tuesday.  It needs a good clean up, but all the parts look original if not slightly upgraded.

Do you have any tips on stripping the tired looking paintwork off and removing some light rust patches (apart from wire wool and elbow grease)??

Also, I was going to strip the bars too, any tips?

Thanks guys.

Now I know you wouldnt be so cruel lol

I think I'll slap on a load of nitromors and strip it right down, then i'm half tempted to just have the frame, forks and bars as polished steel, until I get a few quid to get it powder coated.

I'll try and take some ics to show a before and after, but as this is my first attempt, if it turns out cr@p I won't lol.
