Just had this delivered.  Looks nice but it isn't stamped GT - were they stamped and is there any way to tell if they just stuck a GT sticker on it?

Might be a stamp under the sticker, or it maybe an original but was rechromed, hence the stamp may have been polished out (i've had 2 like that). Hard to tell otherwise mate.

not that I know much, but here goes anyway!!!

same as the above, early stuff was not stamped with gt... the 'TELL' I would have thought would be in the markings to indicate max height.

If someone has a deffo GT, these markings will be the same..

but that could just be a BRAIN FART!  :-\

I've had two early straight GT seat posts that were both stamped GT , I had them both rechromed and because they were not stamped that deep the stamp was lost, I'm sure neither of them had max height marking on them  :-\

I also got a seat post off ebay that was supposedly chrome moly and it was as heavy as, you could deffo tell the difference between a GT one and that one by the weight of it.

thinking about it, haro82 is proberbly right...

plain, seem to ring a bell - early bars were not stamped either.... (were they?) if they were not it is unlikely they would stamp a seat post

I'll shut up now because I am getting more confused, sorry.

Well I did buy this as NOS from that Rini website in the USA, so I am hoping it was sourced from GT and real - I gather this site is pretty safe?

I've just stripped a bike of mine and am lookin at my GT layback and although it is stamped you can hardly see it, so possibly yours is very early or has been rechromed.
